Okada rider remanded for allegedly stealing Osun State church instruments

A 32-year-old Okada Rider, Tunde Adeniyi has been ordered to be remanded in a Correctional Facility on Wednesday for allegedly stealing church instruments worth N1.05 million in an Osun church.

Adeniyi was dragged before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on two-count of burglary and stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Taiwo Adegoke told the court that Adeniyi, on November 16, 2020, at about 2 AM broke into Christ Altar of Mercy Church, Ebunoluwa Area, Osogbo to wit sacrilege and stole two sleeve musical, one mixer engine and one keyboard property of the Church totalled worth N1,050,000 million.

He noted that the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 416 and 390(9) of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Counsel to the accused, Mr Kazeem Adepoju made an oral bail application.

The Chief Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara ordered that the accused person be remanded in Correctional Facility and adjourned the case to January 8, 2020.
