Kaduna State Governor , Nasir El – Rufai , on Friday admitted that banditry and kidnapping were big security issues in his state .
The governor also disowned campaign posters depicting him as running mate to the Minister of Transportation , Rotimi Amaechi , in the 2023 presidential election .
He spoke with State House correspondents after a meeting he had with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa , Abuja .
He said although security situation had improved significantly in the state , the issues of banditry and kidnapping remained big .
He said , “ I think the security situation has improved significantly in Southern Kaduna . We still have very big issues with banditry .
“ Kidnapping is still a big issue . The Air Force, the Army and the Nigeria Police Force are doing the best that they can to wipe out the bandits from the air and on the ground .
“ It is still a big issue , but I ’ m happy that in the Kaduna Capital Territory , Southern Kaduna and most parts of the state , everything is peaceful and quiet .
“ In Birnin Gwari , Igabi Giwa and Chikun local government areas where we still have to contend with kidnappers and bandits , the security agencies are doing their best . ”
