Nigerian Afro-fusion musician, Burna Boy last year wrote his name in gold after he won several awards, including the Best International act category at the 2019 edition of BET Awards.
The popular singer cum songwriter is about to make history, as he has once again been nominated for the Best International Act Award category at the annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
He’s nominated alongside South African singer, Sho Madjozi, Stormzy, and Dave from the United Kingdom, Ninho and S.Pri Noir from France and Innoss’B from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This is an award which celebrates creative expression and black excellence across music, film, television, sports, and philanthropy.
Burna Boy won the Best International Act category at the 2019 BET Awards, and his mom and manager, Bose Ogulu, better known as Mama Burna accepted the award on his behalf with a mind-blowing acceptance speech centred on black excellence.
His mother, Bose Ogulu accepted the award and delivered a special message on her son’s behalf. In her acceptance speech, his mum said the message from the singer to every African in diaspora is “remember you were first an African before any other thing”.
Organizers say the virtual awards ceremony will be broadcast on BET Africa at 2 am CAT (1am WAT) on Monday, June 29th, 2020, and the show will be hosted by American comedian and actress, Amanda Seales.
