The Copyright Society of Nigeria,COSON, has announced the acquisition of an ultra-modern version of the COSIS software for the documentation of musical works as well as the first class distribution of royalties to composers and publishers in the country.
This was disclosed at the meeting of the society’s Board which yesterday, at the Boardroom of the magnificent COSON House in Ikeja, Lagos.
The Board had at its meeting of March 3, 2020 mandated the management to acquire the COSIS software without delay.
According to Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman of the COSON Board, who presented the report to the Board, the installation has been completed and that the virtual training of the personnel to manage the system is ongoing with the software suppliers in Switzerland.
With respect to the Roy Admin software for the management of sound recordings and distribution of royalties arising from the licensing of sound recordings, the Board was also informed that the installation would commence shortly the board was informed that the installation will commence shortly with COSON possessing the most modern copyright royalty monitoring and distribution system in the continent.
However, following the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic with respect to the holding of the COSON Annual General Meeting which usually holds every year in the month of May, the Board has now announced November 12, 2020 as the new date for this year’s COSON AGM billed to hold at the COSON House in Ikeja, Lagos.
