Governor Sanwo-Olu Seeks Support To Boost Food Production

Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu has called on stakeholders and investors in the agriculture sector to support initiatives aimed at boosting food production and security in the state .

A statement on Monday said Sanwo- Olu spoke at the weekend during the 2020 World Food Day Celebration, where he was represented by the state Acting Commissioner for Agriculture , Ms Abisola Olusanya .

He noted that the state had been encouraging increased investment and the empowerment of women and youths in order to increase food production , create employment opportunities , alleviate poverty and boost income generation .

“ We are committed to ensuring steady and sustainable increase in food production through the various policies being implemented as well as programmes being driven by partnerships and collaborations such as the National FADAMA Development Project and Agro – Processing , Productivity, Enhancing and Livelihood Improvement Support .

“ I am glad to note that these policies and programmes are yielding positive outcomes through positive impact on the livelihood of beneficiaries , especially the rural dwellers as well as the empowerment of women and youths along the agricultural value chains, ” Sanwo- Olu added .

He pointed out that human survival was hinged largely on the agricultural sector, as it is the source of food supply needed for the effective functioning of the human body system .
