The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo – Addo, has called for dialogue between the Nigerian government and # EndSARS protesters .
He warned that violence was not the solution to the crisis arising from protests against police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria .
Akufo – Addo said he had spoken with his Nigerian counterpart , Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd . ).
The Ghanaian president noted that Buhari is committed to dialogue .
He tweeted , “ I join all well – meaning persons in calling for calm , and the use of dialogue in resolving the # EndSARS impasse in Nigeria. I have spoken with President Buhari , who is committed to this end, and has begun the processes that will lead to reform .
“ Violence , be it on the part of the Police or protesters , cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones , I express my sincere condolences , and I wish the injured a speedy recovery . ”
Buildings were torched in Lagos on Wednesday following the shooting of peaceful protesters by security forces .
Peaceful protesters had gathered despite a curfew imposed to end spiralling protests over police brutality and deep – rooted social grievances at Lekki toll gate before they were shot on Tuesday .
