KANO State Government has fixed October 26 , 2020 as the date for the reopening of its tertiary institutions after seven months of closure .
The state Commissioner for Higher Education , Dr . Mariya Bunkure, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on Monday night.
The state had on Monday reopened nursery , primary and secondary schools for the students , excluding the JSS 1 and SS1 classes .
Bunkure said the state government had put measures in place in terms of fumigation and providing personal protective equipment against the spread of the COVID – 19 disease in the schools .
“ We have resolved to reopen the schools based on the achievement recorded on the number of active cases of COVID – 19 , which has dropped in the state as well as the directive by the Presidential Task Force Committee to reopen the schools .
The state – owned tertiary institutions are Kano University of Science and Technology , Wudil, Sa ’ adatu Rimi College of Education , School of Nursing , Yusuf Maitama University and Kano State Polytechnic among others .
