Looting: Court remands three over alleged murder in Osun State

The Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, remanded three suspects over alleged armed robbery and murder.

The suspects identified as Aishat Mutiu 21, Oyewale Segun 22, Ijaye Shola 22 and others now at large faced four-count charges bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.

Police prosecutor, ASP Idoko John told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on or about October 24, 2020, at about 11:00 am at TUNS International Holding Limited, Osogbo.

He alleged that the accused persons did arm themselves with guns, cutlasses, iron rods, sticks and other dangerous weapons and robbed one Badmus Taofeek Olakunle of Laptops; Computer; printers; Rugs; Standing fans; Televisions; bags of salt; flour; sugar; baking soda; wall clocks; office chairs and tables; tins of yeast; two big generators; six electric ovens; bread slice machines; thousands of cartons of Biscuit; popcorn machines, etc., value yet to be estimated property of TUNS International Holding Limited, Osogbo.

The prosecutor further alleged that the accused persons did unlawfully shoot one Abdulrasheed Olawale with a gun which caused his death.

He stated that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 6(b), 1(1)(2)(a)(b),324 and 319(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap RII Vol. 14 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.

The plea of the accused persons was not taken by the court.

Defence Counsel to the suspects were Taiwo Awokunle, Cheif Bola Abimbola Ige, A.A Adelowo and A.O Olodo.

The Presiding Magistrate, Modupe Awodele ordered the remand of the accused persons in Ilesa correctional center.

She ordered the police to refer the duplicate case file to the ministry of justice for legal advice.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter to December 9th, 2020 and transferred the matter to Magistrate court lll.
