Attempt by primary school teachers in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State to protest the non – payment of their salaries was on Wednesday aborted by the police .
It was learnt that the difficulty being faced by the teachers started in July this year when the local authority failed to pay them the July salary alongside other workers of the council .
The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers , Mangu branch , Isaac Dapul , while addressing members after the aborted peaceful protest , said efforts made to get chairman of the council area, Lawrence Danat, to see reasons to pay them their salary arrears till August this year proved abortive .
“ Since the chairman of the council is not ready to pay us our entitlements , he shouldn ’ t have denied us the right to peaceful protest enshrined in sections 39 and 40 of the constitution, ” Dapul said
The chairman appealed to Governor Lalong to direct the LG boss , Lawrence Danat, to clear all impend
