A 35-year-old Okada rider, Lawal Musa, yesterday, lost his life while an unidentified soldier was critically injured in multiple accidents on Ikorodu Road, Lagos.
The accident involved a Primero owned Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, with number plate FST 185 FX, a commercial minibus, a Mazda car with number plate KJA 555 XY and the motorcycle.
It was gathered that the accident, which occurred at about 6 am at Idi-Iroko inward Maryland, was attributed to some factory wastes suspected to have been discharged on the road.
According to eyewitnesses, the road became slippery as a result of the factory wastes dumped on the road, which led to the multiple accident.
“Unfortunately, the Okada rider carrying a soldier on the expressway ran into one of the vehicles, leading to multiple accident as other vehicles also hit one another from the rear.
The soldier was said to have sustained serious injuries, but his colleagues who were at the scene of the incident quickly took him to an undisclosed hospital,” the eyewitness said.
The rider was said to have given up the ghost before the arrival of a paramedics team of the state government.
The Nigeria Police, Anthony Division, officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASTMA, and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, were on the ground.
