The Oyo State Government has partnered with ipNX to provide free high – speed broadband Internet connection to two public secondary schools in the state in order to improve access to technology for students and teachers .
The initiative is in continuation of ipNX ’ s broader Corporate Social Responsibility for education programme and Oyo State Internet programme for schools , the Information Technology firm said in a statement .
The statement titled ‘ ipNX partners Oyo State on free Internet supply to public secondary schools ’ was made available to our correspondent on Monday .
With access to high – speed broadband connection from ipNX, the statement said , teachers and students of Government College Ibadan and Bishop Phillips Academy , Monatan were empowered to enjoy the benefits of modern technology in the classroom.
According to the statement , the two schools will enjoy 10 Megabit per second Internet service each free for five years in the first instance , and renewable thereafter .
Group Executive Director , Human Resources and Corporate Services , ipNX, Folashade Efiong – Bassey , said the Internet connectivity would facilitate the goals of the state in improving the education , science and technology sectors , which is a vision of the Governor of Oyo State , Seyi Makinde .
