Also, she said the feasibility study and conceptual master plan for the new port had been approved by the NPA.
Going forward, Egharevba noted that the Spanish firm would carry out a review of key project issues in order to establish a common understanding of the project objectives with officials of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency.
“After this meeting, we will be moving to the next crucial stage, which is the development of the Outline Business Case and Final Business Case for this all-important project. We are committed to working with officials of the Ondo State Government to realise the full vision of the governor for the deep seaport,” she said.
The implementation plan of the Ondo deep seaport project is reportedly at its concluding stage as the Spanish firm, Ocean Infrastructure Management, and its Nigerian partner, Franchise and Business Solutions Limited, are scheduled to hold a meeting with the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu today on the project.
The meeting, according to a statement gotten by Punch, will spell out the presentation and adoption of the project implementation plan for the deep seaport. Targets and timelines for the completion of the project would also be set.
Why this matters: Speaking on the project, the consultant to the Ondo State Government on the deep seaport project, Aina Egharevba of Amiable Consultancy and Logistics Services Limited said that the project would bring about a huge avenue to create job opportunities in the state as up to 20,000 people would be employed.
Egharevba also said that when the deep seaport starts operation, it would attract international investors from various parts of the world and help to boost the economy of the state.
Work done so far: Egharevba said that some key milestones had been successfully achieved such as the preparation of the port feasibility study, conduct of preliminary surveys such as the bathymetric/hydrographic survey and geotechnical survey, soil resistivity test, Met-Ocean studies, and topographic survey for the deep seaport.
