The Police in Ogun have arrested three herdsmen for attacking Bamajo village in Ayetoro and setting it on fire.

The herdsmen also inflicted a deep machete cut on one Ismaila Alabi after setting some of houses in the village ablaze.

Ogun Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Sunday, said the Area Commander for Ayetoro, Anthony Aruna, mobilised his men, hunters and youths to the scene where the entire area was thoroughly combed.

As the search progressed into Igboaje bush, one Musa Yusuf was apprehended on February 18, 2021 with gun and a blood stained cutlass, Abimbola said.

He noted that Musa’s arrest led to the arrest of Usman Mohammed and Aliyu, strongly believed to have participated in the violent attack on the villagers.

The suspects, he added, would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for further investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun.

According to him, massive manhunt is on the remaining arsonists at large with a view to bringing them to face justice while the injured villager has been taken to hospital for treatment.
